The basis Louisville Girls Leadership's membership is made up of 1-2 sophomore representatives from each public and private high school in Jefferson County. Each September, LGL reaches out to the community to bring in a new class of sophomore students. There are two ways that a 10th-grader can potentially join the LGL program.
The administrators of each school are asked to nominate one representative to join the program. Each school has a different process for selecting their nominee, but the basis of each selection will include seeking out a student who has strong leadership potential and the time to commit to a full year of programming with LGL.
The open application process was established in 2014 to give students who were not nominated by their school a chance to join Louisville Girls Leadership. The open application period for 2017 will be announced in August 2017.
